Individuals with private health insurance extras cover will be entitled to a rebate for most dietetic services. Rebates vary according to the health fund and your level of cover. If you are in doubt about whether you can obtain a rebate, please contact your health fund directly. You do not usually need a referral to see a dietitian (check with your health fund), but a referral from your GP or specialist is preferred if you have complex dietary needs.
All individual consultations are GST free.
Medicare consultations in NPA rooms
For eligible patients referred by their GP only. You may be eligible for up to 5 visits per year if your doctor has prepared a care plan as part of the management of your chronic condition.

Veterans Affairs
Veterans holding a DVA Gold Card can be seen by one of the Nutrition Professionals Australia dietitians at no cost. Please ensure that your doctor has provided you with a DVA Allied Health referral.
Work Cover
NPA dietitian visits may be covered by Workcover. A referral from your case manager and treating doctor is required.
